Dear Goodwill Supporters:

Once again, I thank you for your support and commitment to Goodwill. As things have changed quite rapidly, we wanted to send some updates on new steps we are taking regarding coronavirus (COVID-19) at all of our locations including retail stores, operations, administrative offices and workforce development locations.

Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake is enacting the following:

•Beginning March 18th, all Workforce Development programs will be suspended until Monday March 30th.
•Beginning Wednesday March 18th, retail stores will operate a shortened schedule from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Donations will be accepted from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
•All retail operations will be closed beginning Sunday March 22nd and will resume operations on Sunday March 29th.
•All administrative offices will be closed beginning Monday March 23rd and will re-open on Monday March 30th during normal business hours.

As you know, this is an ever-changing situation and we will continue to update you on any and all procedural changes. Thank you for your loyalty and support.

With appreciation,

Are you considering closing your contractual services folks? How are you protecting those employees?

Our contract sites have not been closed by the Government as they are considered “essential services.” They are operating under reduced staff and every precaution is being taken to ensure the safety of the workers. Additionally, employees who are uncomfortable going to work are allowed to use leave time.

Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. locations will remain closed until April 5th. Our government contracts remain open due to their “essential” status. All employees will continue to be paid through next week. Tentatively, we plan to re-open stores on Sunday, April 5th and all other operations on Monday, April 6th. Be advised that this is subject to change and please continue to monitor our communication channels for updates.

No, we do not have any employees collecting donations. We ask that you continue to hold your donations until we can re-open. Leaving your donations at a closed store will force us to dispose of them, impacting our ability to be the best stewards of your donations and decreases resources available to support the communities we serve.
