Merchandising Opportunities
Clothing
Colorization involves arranging items within a category by color. Generally, on a two-sided rack, plain (solid) colors go on one side while prints; checks and plaids go on the opposite side. Within the solids, depending on the season, the orientation is either dark to light or vice versa front to back of the rack. On the opposite side, plaids are separated from checks and prints and the general orientation of either dark to light or vice versa is followed. Recovery is the process by which we maintain the Colorization and categorization on the floor. Recovery also means pulling off textiles that have stains, rips tears or other blemishes that may have got to the sales floor in error. Additionally, the manager on duty may instruct you to pull off textiles of a particular color tag. A shopping cart or hamper may be used to complete these.
Shoes
Shoes are merchandised on shoe racks or on toppers. Dress shoes are merchandises next to or above dress clothing. Sports shoes go with sports clothing or jogging outfits and so on. Also they need to be arranged by color so that they are attractive to the customer. Shoes are also straightened throughout the day.
Hats and Handbags
There are distinct areas in the store set up for displaying hats and handbags. The objective is to colorize and categorize these in the most attractive way possible. Dress hats are merchandise with dress clothes while men’s hats are merchandised with men’s clothing.
