The Roots Partner with Goodwill

Goodwill and The Roots, the Emmy-nominated rock/pop band who performed at the Olympics in Vancouver, are pairing up to challenge fans across the country to donate their unwanted clothing. For two weeks, from May 8-21, The Roots will urge fans to donate to Goodwill. All fans taking part are entered to win the grand prize, a 2010 Honda Insight.

The Roots and Goodwill’s challenge will be promoted through multiple online channels, among them a media partnership with Discovery’s Planet Green and online community, Tree Hugger. Other promotional avenues include The Roots online community and fan base, Reverb and Green Music Challenge communities.

This partnership is in collaboration with The Green Music Group Challenge, which is a series of biweekly environmental Fan Calls to Action featuring a founding member of the Green Music Group and a Nonprofit Challenge Partner.&; Our Challenge with The Roots is the third of nine music groups teaming up with nonprofit organizations, including Dave Matthews Band with DoSomething.org and Sheryl Crow with HeadCount.org, among others.

The Green Music Group Challenge is a project of Reverb, a nonprofit organization that, since 2004, has greened over 80 major music tours while conducting grassroots outreach to over 10 million music fans.
