Goodwill’s New Mission
Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. prepares people to secure and retain employment and build successful independent lives.
For over 90 years Goodwill has worked tirelessly to help those facing economic hardship find gainful employment. As the needs of Marylanders has changed so too has Goodwill. As one of the largest nonprofits in the region Goodwill has always proactively looked to reflect to the growing needs of the community. It is in this tradition of serving people in need to the highest degree possible that Goodwill’s new mission is: Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. prepares people to secure and retain employment and build successful independent lives.
“Goodwill’s new mission defines what we’ve always done best—help people in need gain employment,” said Marge Thomas, President & CEO of Goodwill. “We have always been well known for our retail stores and for collecting donations, and we hope our new mission will educate the public on how the proceeds from their donations are used.”
Last year, Goodwill helped over 2,100 people get jobs. The organization also employs over 650 individuals in the Baltimore metropolitan region and the Eastern Shore through its 25 retail stores and 9 career centers.
Goodwill Industries of the Chesapeake, Inc. will continue to offer the general public access to a wealth of services with the ultimate goal of helping people become gainfully employed as well as help those individuals gain the skills needed to build a future.
