Job Training & Placement

Goodwill has been providing career training and job placement services to people in Maryland for 90 years.

Goodwill offers a wide range of training classes, case management, and career services all designed to help interested individuals find employment, improve their skill set, or change career paths.

Through our 14 career centers job seekers are offered a range of workforce development services, from individualized career assessments, to job readiness training and access to hiring employers in industries such as health care, hospitality, retail, construction, and many others. Our program graduates enjoy work in entry level and advanced clerical , administrative, construction, retail and operations positions.

Goodwill’s job development staff seeks to place job seekers in high growth industries with the potential for career growth, living wages, and benefits. Each training program is individually tailored so that each person is able to achieve their desired goals.

Goodwill’s Programs Include:

  • Juvenile Services (SELF)- Goodwill’s youth development and employment initiative for those between ages 16-19
  • Clerical & Computer Training - An ongoing computer training program customized to each student’s needs and expertise
  • Hospitality Training - A training program designed for all those interested in working in tourist and customer service industries
  • Health Care Training - A customized training program for individuals interested in developing careers in nursing and environmental services
  • Custodial Skills Training - Classroom instruction and hands on training are combined to give participants the skills needed to enter the custodial and maintenance fields
  • General Readiness Training - Participants enrolled in general readiness learn a wide range of skills needed to be successful in the workplace
  • SEETTS (Supporting Ex-Offenders in Employment, Training, and Transitional Services) - SEETTS offers training and support for ex-offenders in search of work opportunities
  • Pre-Apprenticeship Training - In partnership with BCCC, Goodwill now offers a wide variety of pre-apprenticeship training programs
  • Schapiro Training and Employment Program (STEP) - STEP provides training and employment assistance for those individuals with psychiatric disabilities
  • GenesisJobs- GenesisJobs is a volunteer based organization that provides career counseling and placement in entry level positions
  • Waverly Family Support Center- The Waverly Family Support Center offers stable support systems in which parents and children have a comfortable place to learn and develop
